Requiem For A Bear

Bear Bruno is dead, has been shot this morning in Bavaria. Well, they claim he has been a juvenile delinquent (should have been named "Billy the Kid" - and what happened to him, we all know). _ Fact is, that we are a country of "Dumkoffs" (an unvoluntary word- creation of one of my American friends,which really hits the spot,Dummkopf - jerk- and Dumpfbacke - fathead - combined),not beeing able to handle one poor ,in Europe almost extinct,creature,without beeing so triggerhappy.
Now the nation is split into bear lovers and bear haters,and the hunters,who have been wise enough to go into hiding, have been threatened with murder, so has been the Minister of Environment.- There should be a sign at our borders:
BEARS BEWARE!

Might take the steam off our soccer team,if they do not make the finals.
So folks,more about FOOTBALL the next time!

Friends, there is more to life than soccer. Might be, that whole of Germany is happy,cheerful and buddy-buddy right now, wait till the whole shennagan is over, we will be back to our normal drab selves. And listening to the debate in the "Bundestag" today, we are in for not such good times. Where are all the promises, Merkel & Co. made before the elections?? The rich wont be harmed much, the poor are poor anyway, but its the people in the middle,like us, we are being skinned. And there is nothing we can do, except turning into Michael Kohlhaas, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Kohlhaas who had been drawing the asshole-card in the end anyway.

So,rather enjoy that great song "Moon River", sung by Audrey Hepburn in that charming movie BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S.

....thats what we call the weather we are having right now here in Germany, hot and dry, nice, although thunderstorms are predicted for tonite. Another kind of "Hundstage" (dogdays - free translation) Landfrau had last weekend. Daughter No.2 parked her dog, mad Max, with us for the weekend. So right away our dog,Shaylor, started limping, turned out, some bug must have bitten his paw or he got something in from a plant. Anyway, had to take continious walks, since one slow and one megafast dog did not match,decided to take the bike with Max, encountered a neighbour with two hysteric dachshounds, on the leash,mind you, which intrigued Max into a kickstart towards the nuisance to show them manners, almost ended up in a tangle of one neighbour,2 dachshounds, 1 bike,Max and Landfrau. Quote daughter:I always get off the bike when we encounter other dogs. Quote Landfrau: Should have told me before. - Next mad Max decided to chase a rabbit, for a while he has not been seen anymore, came back fortunately without getting onto the mainroad. Quote daughter: You have to tell him before the walk "do not chase rabbits today"! Quote Landfrau: Should have told me before. Well, otherwise everything went o.k., actually Max is a nice doggie, a little unruly ,maybe? But it has been o.k. too, when he was picked up including his -ugh-smelly blanket Sunday nite. -

Latest soccer news, Spain beat Ukraine 4:0 - Ole'- Tonite we will be at war, Germany against Poland! And we are having a houseguest till Monday morning, the MEGASOCCER-FAN there is, our grandson (9). Landfrau hopes, that by this time she will have gone back the one dress size she has aquired after quitting smoking. There is always hope!!!

W M !!!! There is no escaping it. Hard to find an item, not connected. Bad thing is, you start playing along,without actually wanting it. Landfrau bought toiletpaper today, each sheet printed with a quiz-question. Since we have the ultimative soccer-fan, our youngest grandson (soon 9 ys.old) in our family,we have an obligation. He will stay with us for a few days in a couple of weeks, the quiz will keep him busy (too). We are in for hard times, ole'!

Bavarian Hysterics!

Poor Teddy,

first bear (brown) since 170 years in Germany, migrated from Austria,where at least 20 of them live happily. Around Bavaria the poor fellow is a MEGA Danger, he killed a few chickens and got some sheep. Now he is in for the death row and all those Bavarian hunters are out to save Bavaria and kill the beast. Is there really no other solution? Wildlife- and Animal protectors are fuming, but a Bavarian minister is the absolute law. Poor Germany!

Rules for American Soccer Fans!

Now, friends, listen carefully, here are some rules and regulations - to survive in vicious Germany during the soccer championships:

1. Never ever lean on cars, cars are sacred in Germany!

2. Never wear a bathing suit ,should you visit a sauna, Germans are freaks for
nakedness!

3. Don't be friendly!
Yep, you have been reading correctly, us Germans dont like over- friendliness, makes
us suspicious, we will think you want something from us or that you are nuts.

4. Dont expect us to be wearing Lederhosen, nor Dirndl-dresses- SORRY

Is this enough, you still want to come? Well, Landfrau did not copy this out of a German book of rules, it has been published by a guy named Barry Tomalin, expert on German behaviour.
And, yes, you are warned of extreme scenes of nakedness in German TV, so, now you ARE intrigued, eh, now you are set to come!
